Diploma in Commercial Skydiving


This unique 32 week full-time diploma course includes 200 skydives and industry experience to prepare students for a career in the commercial skydiving field. The course is available to international students and has New Zealand Parachute Industry Association and New Zealand Qualifications Authority approval. Current employment rates of over 95%

The Subjects include Dropzone Operations such as Manifesting, Rule Familiarisation, First Aid, Sales Techniques and Office Skills; Commercial Skydiving which in addition to the practical skydiving and dedicated coaching camps includes specialist sections on freefall camera and video, meteorology, relative work training, spotting, accuracy, workforce promotion and self-management; Advanced Skydiving covers some of the more specialist areas of skydiving including all methods of parachute packing and maintenance, videos/DVD editing, radio assistance to student parachutists, loadmaster responsibilities, displays, extraordinary parachute descents, emergency situation action plans, aircraft procedures and equipment; then finally an organised Work Placement in the commercial industry.

Itinerary & Highlights
The school operates Turbine and Piston engine aircraft and all student equipment was purchased in 2004 with Performance Variable Omega containers and reserves and Icarus mains. There is a large dedicated teaching room and separate briefing room. Data show projection and large screen playback is available for teaching and debriefing. Digital stills cameras and videos are available so students can assess their results immediately following each camera dive. There are also separate carpeted packing facilities.

For the first month of the course students use school eqipment and following this the school assists in getting students suitable equipment at good rates
